CLIENT: Kiehl's / L'Oreall
PROJECT: Mural for Main Office Entrance
OBJECTIVE:
The client wanted an impactful presence to their office entrance, solution: we created a mural capturing the essence of the brand in its New York City environment.
OVERVIEW & PROCESS:
In January of 2009, we were contracted by Kiehl's / L'Oreal to do a mural in their main office on Hudson Street in Manhattan. After our proposal and the rough sketch for the mural was approved, we headed from our Bronx headquarters down to their offices to get the job done.
Since this is an indoor job, a lot of attention is placed on covering and protecting all non-project areas like the floors, tables, surrounding walls and anything else that shouldn't get painted.
Once all the preparations are done, we start roughly sketching out the images of the project based on the approved design. Once we have the main image sketched out (which is usually the biggest one of the layout) the rest of the images just fall in place and we can start to fill in with colors and get into the details to make it a typical and classic Tats Cru mural.
After the groundwork is put in, we just have to keep putting layers and layers of paint to get to the final product and achieve the desired look. In most cases, the client or a representative attends our "performance" so if there are any discrepancies or questions we can solve them right there during the process. It makes things much easier that way because once the mural is done, corrections or modifications are much harder but not impossible. Communication between us and the client is of high importance to reach satisfaction on both sides when the mural/job is done.
The final mural……..another mural to our collection and another client happy.
